I have 3 routers ( Linksys wrt300n - Netgear wnr854t - D-link DIR-655 ) no SMC....I just tried to connect to them all, one at a time, with my Lenovo T60 laptop..I cant get the animation ( not in Win XP nor Win Vista - running dualboot)In the windows versions it is possible to disable the animation function..Vista just rightclick on the animation an disable XP go to settings and network connections and rightclik on your LAN connection and choose propertiesand remove the "Show icon in notificationarea when connected"Product: DIR-655 - HW Version: A2 - FW Version: 1.33NAb01Product: DAP-1522 - HW Version: A1 FW: 1.20Product: DWA-643 - HW Version: A1 - FW Version: 2.0Product: DWA-160 - HW Version: A1 - FW Version: 1.20 EProduct: DCS-1130 - HW Version: A1 - FW Version: 1.01That's good for getting rid of the symptom, but doesn't solve the cause I want to know why i get this message when using the dir-655 and not when using another router. It only happens on 1 system and only on the wired port (wireless no issue)Do you run with static IP address or DHCP on your wired LAN..... Its almost sounds like the SMC is making the connection to the PC/Laptop much faster than the D-Link....3) Disable all of your WEP or other security protocals Once you've done this, try to connect the PC using the open wireless connections. If your PC can see the network while it is open, then I'd lock down the MAC address tab first and look again to see if your PC can connect.its already been 4 days and i still cannot log on to my computer. S It never happened before I reformatted my computer Thanks in advance. If so, does the computer connect if you plug it directly into your router instead of using the wireless?

2) For the time being, disable the option to secure the wireless by MAC addresses.

cheere Hadn't read all solutions so I apologize if I'm repeating someone but all I did was go back to Belkin router setup utility, or (192.168.2.1) and clicked "wi fi protected setup".

Then, I selected disable at the "wi fi protected setup (wps)" option.

I had been able to connect previously, but the connection would always indicate that it was validating.

However, it didnt work, until I disconnected, turned the power off my Wi Fi, unchecked the tab in the authenticate dialog box, clicked ok, then switched the Wi Fi power back on, and reconnected.
